Location
Pioneer Drive, Boyne Island.

Operating Hours 6.30am to 4.30pm Monday to Friday excluding public holidays. Open for pedestrian access on weekends and Public Holidays.

Opened in 2007

Burials

The lawn cemetery utilises the very latest technology with a below ground crypt burial system that allows up to three members of the same family to be interred in one crypt. People are able to memorialise their loved ones with a bronze plaque which is at ground level in keeping with lawn cemetery concept. The cemetery incorporates a designated area for returned service personnel and their families. There is also a special children’s section.

There are no monuments or headstones in the cemetery section. Memorial Parklands has a policy of no plastic flowers or ornaments, with the exception of the children’s section where people may leave small mementos. There are facilities to place fresh flowers next to plaques using containers provided onsite. Staff will remove flowers routinely for mowing. We ask that glass vases and other containers not be left onsite as they pose a safety risk to staff in maintaining the lawn cemetery.

Cremation & Memorialisation

Memorial Parklands offers a range of options and flexibility in relation to memorialisation.

The ashes of loved ones may be scattered in the gardens or ornamental lake and a memorial plaque can be placed on one of the many unique stones lining the walkways and scattered throughout the site. A plaque may also be placed on a tree or along one of the walkway edges. Ashes can also be interred in the cemetery section.

Ashes will generally be available several days following a cremation service and will be presented in a crematoria ashes box. Plaques and Memorialisation urns can be arranged through your funeral director.

The Chapel

The Boyne Tannum Memorial Parklands Memorial Parklands includes an open plan chapel building that is appealing to the wider community regardless of religious beliefs. The Chapel is sited to take advantage of a serene bushland outlook across the river inlet. It has seating for 80-100 people indoors. The open verandah design allows additional capacity for larger services. Extra chairs can be arranged on request. The chapel has a modern sound system and audio visual equipment. For further information about the Chapel contact our Cemeteries Department.

The Teahouse

The Boyne Tannum Memorial Parklands also includes a Teahouse that is designed to allow family and friends to gather for tea and coffee following a service. In keeping with the intent, the teahouse has a small kitchen with basic tea and coffee making facilities and a small fridge. There are 50 chairs available at the teahouse if required. For further information about the Teahouse contact our Cemeteries Department.
